Technicians awarded RHCT and RHCE certificates to assist with migration and open source implementation.

United Arab Emirates, 25 September 2008: Opennet Middle East & Africa, the Master Distributor and authorised Certified Training Centre of Red Hat Linux products for GCC, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, has conducted on-site training for the IT department of Kharafi Construction. The 4-week hands-on course included Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) and Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification lab exams. Two candidates were qualified for the RHCT certificate and one for the RHCE certificate.

Khaled El Demardash, IT Manager for Kharafi Construction said, “The objective of the training was to acquire the necessary skills for the intermediate and advanced installation and administration of RedHat Entreprise Linux. The training was very useful and we hope to continue to work closely with Opennet during the implementation process. From another side, we will be looking to more Redhat advanced courses to be delivered by Opennet in the mid and the long term.”

The implementation consists on a high availability environment based on Red Hat cluster suite and Global File System (GFS). Based on the results of the new implementation, Kharafi Construction are considering the migration of its other services to Red Hat Linux and the replication of the same environment in the other divisions within the group.

“Red Hat Certifications are indisputably the best in Linux,” said Khaled El Badri, Training Manager at Opennet MEA. “Our certification programs measure competency on live systems and will help Kharafi Construction with their future open source implementations.”

Opennet worked with Kharafi Construction’s IT team to choose the right certification based on its background and goals. Kharafi Construction Company, based in Kuwait, provides engineering, procurement and construction services on industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects mainly in the countries of the Arabian Gulf.
